Baldo’s Ice Cream & Coffee

Check out Baldo’s Ice Cream & Coffee at 6401 Hillcrest Avenue, Suite 102. This ice cream and coffee shop offers around a dozen flavors, including flights of mini ice cream cones, where you can choose three to six different flavors in mini cones. In addition to its mini- and full-size ice cream cones, it offers ice cream sandwiches, floats, skillet cookies, and cakes topped with rainbow sprinkles.

If you’re a coffee lover, it offers choices to make you smile. Try its affogato, a hot espresso beverage drizzled over ice cream. Another favorite is the java chip ice cream, a cold-brew-infused delight. Both feature coffee sourced from Oak Cliff Coffee. Baldo’s Ice Cream & Coffee is open daily from noon to 10 p.m.

Cauldron Ice Cream

Cauldron Ice Cream, located at 3001 Knox St., offers a unique ice cream experience. Its ice cream is served in a puffle cone, a rolled waffle made from a sweet egg-based batter. These cones are made fresh on a unique waffle maker, then filled with liquid nitrogen ice cream, which you can even get formed into the shape of a rose. Liquid nitrogen ice cream can be made to order because the cream and milk mixture is frozen to prevent large ice crystals from forming, resulting in extra creamy ice cream.

The hours at Cauldron Ice Cream are Monday through Thursday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 2 p.m. until 11 p.m., Saturday from noon to 11 p.m., and Sunday from noon until 10 p.m. Stop by to enjoy this unique treat to help you cool down in Dallas.

Creamistry

Creamistry has two Dallas locations: 2301 N. Akard St., Suite 260, and 5100 Belt Line Road, Suite 610. It also features made-to-order liquid nitrogen ice cream, completely custom-made for you right on the spot. You can choose your fruit, dairy, or nut base for sorbets, flavors, and toppings. Then enjoy the show as billows of fog rise from the bowl as your dessert forms. Try one of its fan favorites, such as matcha green tea or milk coffee. Nitroshakes, ice cream sandwiches, and take-home pints are also available.

Both locations are open Sunday through Thursday from noon until 11:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from noon to midnight.

Cow Tipping Creamery

Another favorite ice cream option is Cow Tipping Creamery, located at 3685 The Star Blvd., Suite 201, in nearby Frisco, specializing in sophisticated soft serve with a dizzying choice of toppings. It has weekly specials, allowing you to check out unique ice cream treats. Check out The Warhol, made with crumbles of roasted banana pudding cake sprinkled with Nilla Wafer dust. Another signature treat that’s not offered elsewhere is a hard shell cone dipped in cookie butter, adding a tasty new element to your favorite soft-serve flavor.

You can visit Cow Tipping Creamery Sunday through Thursday from noon to 9 p.m. or Friday and Saturday from noon until 10 p.m.

The Dolly Llama

Known as the waffle master, The Dolly Llama, located at 2817 Howell St., Suite 210, offers a new twist on the waffle cone. Instead of the traditional flat and crispy waffle cones, it specializes in Belgian waffle cones and a daring Hong Kong Bubble Waffle wrapped around an ice cream scoop. It also offers milkshakes, waffles, and ice cream sandwiches. The Dolly Llama is open Sunday through Thursday from noon until 10 p.m., staying open until midnight on Friday and Saturday.

Howdy Homemade

Howdy Homemade, located at 12300 Inwood Road in North Dallas, serves fresh ice cream, including its signature flavor, Dr. Pepper Chocolate Chip. It supports the local community by employing people with developmental or intellectual disabilities. You can get a tasty treat at Howdy Homemade Sunday through Wednesday from noon until 9 p.m., staying open an hour later until 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

Paciugo Gelato Caffè

Paciugo Gelato Caffè, located at 8687 N. Central Expressway, Suite 2404, is the local spot to indulge in authentic Italian gelato. The difference between traditional ice cream and gelato is that gelato contains less air than ice cream, resulting in a denser texture, making it wonderfully rich and creamy but still soft and scoopable. Paciugo serves unique creations, such as its Paciunicorn cones covered in sprinkles. In the summer, the menu includes a delicious cantaloupe sorbet. It even offers gelato spaghetti and meatballs, which you’ll have to see to believe.

Paciugo Gelato Caffè serves up treats from noon until 7 p.m. on Sunday, 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Dougherty’s Pharmacy

To take a trip back in time, visit Dougherty’s Pharmacy, located at 12835 Preston Road, Suite 202. Being in business since 1929, it had a soda fountain, as did most pharmacies back then. As the years passed, soda fountains in pharmacies fell out of fashion, but Dougherty’s decided to bring its soda fountain back in 2021. So now you can get a taste of yesteryear with one of its ice cream sundaes, milkshakes, malts, ice cream floats, or fizzy fountain sodas.

If you’re in the mood for a snack, you can also get a grilled cheese sandwich or a grilled peanut butter and jelly. Soda fountain hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
